Hold Your Horses

Proverbs 21

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.

At churches and among individuals who place their faith in the Lord, it is often said that 'Victory is the Lord’s.' This statement holds true. While we diligently prepare and carefully plan our daily battles in various arenas such as our homes, workplaces, churches, and relationships, the Bible does not diminish our efforts nor discourage preparedness. Rather, it emphasizes the importance of seeking the ultimate source of victory.

This perspective conveys that victory is not merely a matter of chance, luck, or privilege reserved for the strong, well-fed, or wealthy. Victory is accessible to all, including the poor, hungry, and thirsty, when one seeks the one who truly possesses victory.

This understanding is a profound revelation, an essential guideline, and a reassuring promise. It reveals that success in any endeavor is attainable through seeking the owner of victory. It instructs us to remain prepared diligently while placing our trust not in our own abilities or strategies, but in the one who not only provides strength but also grants wisdom for triumph. It assures us that victory is secured by those who seek in accordance with His will, placing their trust not in earthly possessions or power, but in the one who holds everything in the palm of His hands.

Luke 11:9-10

And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
