Proverbs 7:4-5
Say to wisdom, “you are my sister”, and call insight your intimate friend, to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words.
During my high school years, my circle of friends and I were consumed by a youthful curiosity that led us to watch and collect adult materials. One day, my mother stumbled upon the CDs and magazines my classmates and I were amassing. Instead of reacting with anger or disdain, she approached me calmly and initiated a conversation. Her demeanor and choice of words made a lasting impact on me.
In that pivotal moment, my mother, recognizing my role as the man of the house in my father's absence, imparted a profound lesson about respect and responsibility. With three beautiful sisters, one in college and the others in elementary and kindergarten at the time, she entrusted me to safeguard and cherish them. Speaking in our native tongue, her words carried a depth and weight that resonated deeply within me.
Her guidance instilled in me a reverence for women and a newfound perspective on how to carry myself as a man. From that day onward, whenever I encountered temptation or objectification of women, my mother's heartfelt words echoed in my mind like a moral compass, influencing my actions and choices.
Reflecting on this transformative experience, I have come to cherish the lessons learned and the personal growth it catalyzed within me. Embracing my past, with its challenges and revelations, has shaped my identity and influenced my journey through life. I believe in the importance of sharing such stories, recognizing their potential to inspire and educate others, particularly the younger generation.
I am not ashamed of my past, for it has contributed to the person I have become. Through life's trials and experiences, I have learned the power of self-reflection and the impact of positive influence. While many may struggle with similar challenges, I find solace in the belief that God guides us through individuals who remind us of our higher purpose beyond mere physical desires.
As I navigate my path as a man of faith, I hold onto the belief that we are all children of God through Christ, should we choose to embrace him. My journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of introspection, guidance, and the enduring values rooted in love, respect, and spiritual growth. #proverbsaday #christianinspiration
