Everyday Miracles in Retirement Homes

Today is a day worth remembering - Saturday, January 13, 2024. I am grateful for the many miracles that have occurred in my life, and I am determined to record them. At 3:30 PM, I have a singing gig that is particularly special. While I usually perform at senior facilities, today promises to be a rare and unique experience that I am excited to witness as a singer-performer.

Earlier today, I had a small disagreement with my spouse, Dee, which left me feeling quite upset. Before heading to work, I took some time to pray in my personal prayer room, asking God to guide me in becoming a better husband, and to help me emulate His example of love and devotion in my marriage. Despite the tension of the moment, I also reminded myself that God often has miracles in store for us during trying times. After finishing my prayers, I felt more at peace and approached Dee to apologize and express my love for her. With that resolved, I headed off to work

During my gig this afternoon, I performed at a venue in Newport, the name of which I cannot disclose for security and privacy reasons. However, I did receive permission from the family to share my experience on my blog and social media. They even mentioned the name of one of the audience members, Barbara, who was present with her two visiting daughters at the senior home Pavillion where the show was held.

Barbara, unfortunately, is one of many cases in memory care and doesn't open her eyes. Although some other audience members were unresponsive, I noticed that the majority were quite receptive as I sang a few popular songs, including "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, "Delilah" by Tom Jones, and "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra.

However, it was during my rendition of "Nella Fantasia" by Il Divo that something truly remarkable occurred. As I sang, Barbara began to open her eyes, and her daughters were moved to tears. It was a touching moment, and I felt privileged to have played a small part in bringing some joy to their lives.

During my program, I had the chance to speak with the daughters. They shared with me that their mother had not opened her eyes for quite some time. However, Barbara responded well to the music I sang. The daughters praised my singing and inquired about what inspired me. I took this opportunity to share the meaning behind my music. I explained that every morning, God wakes me up at 4 am to pray and ask for His blessings to touch my audience, bringing healing to their hearts and souls.

I realized that by choosing to let go of my upset and fulfill my duties, I was able to witness the miraculous purpose that God had called me to. The Holy Spirit had guided me every step of the way.

I remember the Verse in Zephaniah which says, “ God sings and dances over the sorrows of His people “. Yes! He is the God of songs that heals, that opens eyes, that breaks and build up men to be called His children.

Today is a beautiful day that the Lord has made, and my cup is overflowing with joy. I will never forget that I am anchored and secure. I sing praises to the Lord, asking Him to heal the sorrows of those around me. I am proud to represent the God of Israel, and I am grateful for Jesus Christ, my Savior and King.
